I think the hardest black and white nail art has got to be something as seemingly simple as a black and white gradient. It’s tough to get the colors to blend seamlessly, especially when the colors are complete opposites.
Here’s my sad looking attempt.
Colors used: Essie Blanc and Essie Licorice.
To do this, paint your nails white and let dry. Start the gradient in your favorite method. I prefer to use the cosmetic makeup sponge method by painting the colors directly onto the sponge and then pressing the sponge onto your nails, moving the sponge up and down to blend the two colors together in the middle. The trick, is to let each press of the sponge dry otherwise the polish will lift from the nails and you’ll get weird splotches. The gradient may look weird or uneven, but don’t worry, top coat will help blend the colors.
